N. Joe Maeji, PhD
Chief Executive Officer
Joe Maeji, BSc, MPhil, PhD, became CEO of Anteo Diagnostics in May 2008. Joe has more than 20 years of experience in the management of industry R&D, and commercialisation of products and technologies at the interface of chemistry and biology. He has background and experience in successfully securing funding for development of new technologies, as well as analysis and positioning of Intellectual Property in support of their commercialisation. Joe was a co-founder of the company that became Anteo Diagnostics. Previously, he held senior management positions in Mimotopes Pty Ltd, Melbourne, Australia and in Chiron Corporation, San Francisco, USA.
Nevin Abernethy, PhD
Head of Product Development and Research
Nevin worked at the University of Melbourne, Department of Veterinary Pre-Clinical Sciences and the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Auckland prior to joining Genesis Research and Development Corp Ltd in Auckland as founding scientist where he was responsible for the company Immunology and In Vivo Biology program. He also worked at New Zealand equivalent of CSIRO, AgResearch Limited, where he was responsible for bioassay and pre-clinical development of a novel wound-healing therapeutic.
Warren Diaz
Head of Quality & Strategic Planning
Warren has a BSc (App) in Biochemistry/Microbiology and has over 16 years experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry. Prior to joining Anteo Diagnostics he worked for Progen Pharmaceuticals, Brisbane, Aust., as Quality and Technical Manager in the cGMP accredited facility, and then moved into a strategic development and portfolio management role. Progen Pharmaceuticals at the time was a globally focused biotechnology company that discovered and developed small molecule-based cancer therapeutics. Prior to Progen, Warren worked for SmithKline Beecham, Melbourne, Aust, where he was responsible for the day to day management of the microbiology department.
Herbert Chow, PhD
Business Development
Herbert Chow, Ph.D. in Immunopathology, Uni. of Illinois, USA, holds multiple patents in chemical processing and devices for therapeutics, clinical diagnostics and consumer diagnostics. In his 20 plus years working in the industry, he has considerable operational expertise in developing and commercialising innovative technologies, and building successful strategic partnership in the fields of medical diagnostic and therapeutic devices. He was a founder of HemStat (CA), a biotechnology company developing platelet–based diagnostic product for cardiovascular diseases. Previously, he held various key senior management positions at multiple start-up biotechs as well as established companies such as Abbott Labs and Lifescan (Johnson & Johnson).
